Bed and Breakfast Inn Business Plan

The Magnolia Hotel is located high above Half Moon Bay, California. It overlooks the Pacific Ocean. The Inn offers seven individually furnished rooms, each with its own antique theme. We are a complete bed and breakfast Inn with a full complementary breakfast served each morning to our guests. Magnolia’s market strategy is to make it a destination of preference for professionals in the San Francisco Bay region who are looking for a place that allows them to recharge and relax. We will also reach out to the newly married couple seeking that special getaway. We will advertise to potential guests traveling along Highway 101 through Half Moon Bay.

Magnolia will feature an eye-catching sign that will inform potential customers as well as drop-ins about our existence. To market our Inn we will use the Yellow Pages of the Bay Area and a web page on the Internet that will highlight the Inn’s features. The rooms will all be displayed with their own decor. Outside views of the Pacific Ocean and beautiful gardens will also be shown. We will have information on the nearby attractions and their room rates as well as directions. The Magnolia is confident that it will not take long to build a following that will put us at full capacity within the next year. The Inn would like to see steady growth with a average of over 90% capacity for Year 1, with profits also growing at a rate of 10%.

Jim and Nancy Anderson are the sole owners of the Magnolia and live at the Inn year around. The Andersons manage every aspect of the Inn’s operation. The Inn has a small staff that includes a cook, and a maid. The cook will be working 20 hours per work week, and the maid 40 hours per week. Nancy will also have the maid on the payroll. She will help Nancy with reservations and assist at the front desk. Nancy will supervise the inside operations. She will work alongside the cook and maid to make reservations. Jim will maintain the grounds and drive the van to shuttle guests. Both Jim and Nancy will promote the Inn and oversee the advertising.
